Lean Close and Listen to my Earbuds

There are times I wish I was doing a podcast, because then I could be sponsored by Audible. Because I freaking love Audible. I first joined the service years ago, and rejoining recently has been one of the big signs that I've been putting my life back together.

I want to share some of my favorite Audiobooks in my library.

American Gods - Full Cast Version
I love Neil Gaiman's work; I was introduced to it through Sandman, and American Gods is just a fantastic piece of fiction. The full cast edition turns a great book into an amazing audio drama.

Fafrhd and the Gray Mouser
One of the things that I've used my Audible subscription for is picking up some of the classics of the genre that I enjoy reading and writing in. Fritz Lieber coined the term, and his Fafrhd and the Gray Mouser series is one of the stars of the genre. These aren't invincible heroes, but men who end the story broke as often as they end up walking away with anything in their purse.

Codex Alera
Jim Butcher is better known for his Dresden Files series, but Codex Alera, his epic fantasy series, is a fun ride from start to finish. This is a story that Butcher started writing on a bet, saying that there are no bad ideas, only bad stories. The two bad ideas? "The Lost Roman Legion" and "Pokemon." In spite of that expression on your face, it really, really works.
