Power Fuel

I currently live alone, which means that my food habits are not what a person might normally consider... sane.

There are typically two meals in my day, one brunch meal that is some combination of indulgent and healthy, and a dinner of a blender smoothie. Said smoothie typically consists of:

  • Coconut milk
  • Cold Brewed Coffee
  • Frozen Berries
  • Kale
  • Protein Powder
  • Chia Seeds
  • Flax Seeds
  • Coconut flakes
  • 2 multivitamins
  • Fiber Supplement
I've messed with the recipe from time to time, and the results haven't always been great. On the day I wrote this post, I used a mix of broccoli and kale. I could barely stomach the resulting concoction.

To everyone who just said, "Now you can't?" Please find your nearest open mic nights, you're all wonderful comedians. It's a matter of trying to be functional; I had considered starting to drink Soylent, but decided to start trying to mix up my own version.

Back to the broccoli. It made things too bitter, too sharp for me to take more than a single bite. But I had something at work that is letting me actually enjoy it now. We have those water coolers at work that come with a hot-water switch. I poured some in, let the drink sit, and the tastes in the drink have mellowed right out.

So two thoughts: it's quite possible to make your own Soylent-style meal drink, and always steam your broccoli.
